The University’s International Development Office has sent us details of internships in India.

There is information on the following web page:  www.swan.ac.uk/international/opportunities/work-abroad/india/

And also on Blackboard: ‘my studies > organisations > study & work abroad opportunities > work placements Asia’  – all students are enrolled on this so they can see the vacancies.  All of the live ones are listed on Blackboard, and they contain more information about the companies and projects.  There is also information on the application procedures.  Further internships will be added as they become available.

Here is a summary of what’s currently available:

Affinity Software, Bangalore: 3 month & 6 month placements, any time of year, suitable for UG level 2 and above (3 month placements) or final year students (6 month placements).  These are unpaid & for non- Indian students only (as requested by the company).

GE Healthcare, Bangalore: 12 months, paid, has to be an Indian student because of visa limitations, plus the student has to return to university after the placement has finished.  So this would be for UG between 2nd and 3rd year (longer term, as I know there aren’t and Indian students available now) or for  PG student who is able to suspend their studies.

GE Energy, Hyderabad: 6 – 12 months, paid, PG level, or exceptional final year UG.  They may accept 6 months for the right candidates, but we need clarification on the payment situation, as visa rules state that the internship must be unpaid, so this may rule out non-Indians. I will confirm asap once I have had a reply from GE.

Sourcebits, Bangalore: 6 month unpaid placements, any time of the year, suitable for final year UG, PG or PG students that are able to suspend for 6 months.
